An off-duty New York City police officer has been killed when his car crashed into a state Department of Transportation truck on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Rockland County. State police identified the victim as 30-year-old Christopher Morelli of Newburgh, who was a detective with the New York Police Department. An NYPD spokesman said Morelli had joined the force in 2000 and was assigned to the Central Robbery Squad.
